Experienced with Auto Accident Law, Care, & Insurance Policies

Not all auto accident injuries are obvious. It may take several days for whiplash and other soft tissue injuries to appear. That’s why we recommend seeing a doctor and chiropractor as soon as possible after an accident, to determine whether any injuries occurred and discuss treatment options. At Southwest Spine & Rehab our experienced staff, doctors, chiropractors, and physical therapist are all at location and ready to serve.

Whiplash. Neck Pain. Back Pain.

According to industry experts, most drivers make an auto accident claim every 18 years. If you begin driving at age 16 and live an average lifespan, that means you can expect to have between three and four car accidents in your lifetime. Thankfully, the vast majority of these accidents are minor, resulting in more property damage than anything else.

Unfortunately, there are still millions of accidents every year that result in personal injury. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Association, 2016 (the most recent statistics available) saw over 3.1 million people injured in auto accidents.

The most common injuries are whiplash, neck pain, and back pain.

Chiropractic Care for Car Accident Victims in Mesa

Since 2012, Southwest Spine & Rehab has specialized in treating the soft tissue injuries often experienced after a car crash.

Even with the improved safety features in modern vehicles, the human body experiences sudden, dramatic movement during a crash. This often causes a variety of seemingly mild injuries that may lead to long-term issues if not treated early.

Whiplash may be the most well-known auto accident injury. Common whiplash symptoms include:

  • Pain in the neck and upper back
  • Headache
  • Dizziness

In addition, SW Spine provides chiropractic treatment for a variety of injuries after an auto accident, including:

  • Back pain
  • Chest pain
  • Displaced bone fragments in the spine
  • Headaches
  • Herniated discs
  • Microtears in muscles and ligaments
  • Neck pain
  • Soft-tissue injuries

You may also feel generally stiff and sore. Unfortunately, these symptoms may take several days to manifest. If you’re dealing with insurance companies and have already told them you weren’t injured in the accident, getting coverage for your injuries may be difficult. The earlier you see a chiropractor, one with experience in auto accident treatment, law, and insurance, the better.

Benefits of Chiropractic Care for Car Accident Injuries

At SW Spine, we believe that it’s just as important to treat the cause of your pain as it is to relieve your discomfort. Our treatments are designed to offer immediate relief while also realigning your body to its healthy state.

Chiropractic treatment addresses your issues without invasive surgery or addictive pain medications. Our care is both safe and effective because it addresses both the symptom and its underlying cause.

The chiropractic adjustments Dr. Taylor performs help reduce inflammation and restore range of motion. This relieves pressure on the nervous system (and the resulting pain).

"I was referred here after a car accident (and subsequently putting off any medical treatment for months). The first thing they said was I needed an MRI and were shocked that neither the EMTs or the urgent care I went to suggested I get one. Went and got that, set up a treatment plan, and have been making lots of improvement! Friendliest staff around! Seriously always a pleasure to come in and see everyone- especially since I’m here 3x a week- so nice to always feel welcome! ... seriously... why is everyone always in a good mood?! AWESOME!"

"I have been involved in multiple car accidents (not my fault) and Dr. Scott Taylor at Southwest Spine and Rehab has always been my go to Chiropractor. Dr. Taylor has taken the time to fully understand the scope of my injuries, and with his knowledge/skills has improved my low back pain. Appreciate all the help getting me back on my feet again!!"

Auto Accident Chiropractic Care Common Questions

Many times, if you are not at fault, the other driver’s auto insurance company will pay all your medical bills with no out-of-pocket costs to you. And, if you happen to be the at-fault driver, many auto insurance plans now come with Medpay or medical payments that can be used to pay for any medical treatments. If you’re not sure, you can always give us a call and we will verify your benefits with the auto insurance company.

The answer is a resounding, YES!! Unfortunately, many patients will be seen for a few minutes by their primary care doctor or an ER doctor for an evaluation for major life threatening injuries, (which is needed). They’re then given a prescription for pain medication and sent on their way. Many patients involved in a motor vehicle crash suffer some amount of soft tissue damage to the cervical and lumbar spine. Often, these symptoms take days and in some cases weeks to show up, especially if you are taking powerful pain medication and muscle relaxers to mask the symptoms. Our team of auto accident medical experts ensure you are receiving the best care available and everyone is in communication with eachother and able to provide immediate feedback and take action.

This is not a simple question to answer. Following an auto accident in Mesa or other areas of the valley, patients have many different symptoms from their crash, ranging from mild traumatic brain injury to muscle sprains. Even if symptoms appear to be mild, it’s important to get checked out as soon as possible following your auto accident. Typically, after a week or so, muscle spasms and pain gradually decrease. We employ massage therapy and other gentle forms of treatment immediately following your auto accident and then progress patients to more of an active care plan. An active care plan following an auto accident should include rehabilitative exercises to strengthen the damaged areas of the patient’s body. We also work with other medical providers to guarantee you get all the care that you need to return to your pre-accident state.

Answering this question is difficult as every patient and situation is unique. The time to complete healing varies dramatically according to the injuries sustained. On average, patients see dramatic improvement within about three months. However, any pre-existing conditions as well as the patient’s overall health impacts that timeline. In addition, how well the patient adheres to rehabilitation instructions, particularly exercises performed at home, plays a role in speed of recovery.
