Common Questions?

What if I don't have health insurance?

Many times if you are not at fault the other drivers auto insurance company will pay for all your medical bills with no out of pocket costs. And if you happen to be the at fault driver many auto insurance plans now come with Medpay or medical payments which can be used to pay for any medical treatments. If your not sure you can always give us a call and we will verify your benefits with the auto insurance company.

Do I need to see a chiropractor if I already saw my primary care doctor or went to the ER?

The answer is a resounding, YES!! Unfortunately many patients will be seen for a few minutes by their primary care doctor or an ER doctor for an evaluation for major life threatening injuries, (which is needed) given a prescription for pain medication and sent on their way. Many if not all patients involved in a motor vehicle crash have suffered some amount of soft tissue damage to the cervical and lumbar spine. Often these symptoms may take days or in some cases weeks to show up especially if you are taking powerful pain medication and muscle relaxers to mask the symptoms.

Does treatment for an auto accident differ from traditional chiropractic care?

This is not a simple question to answer. Often times following an auto accident in Mesa or other areas of the valley patients have many different symptoms from their crash, ranging from Mild traumatic brain injury to muscle sprains. Even though symptoms may be severe it's important to get checked out as soon as possible following your auto accident. Most commonly after a week or so, muscle spasms and pain gradually decrease. We will utilize massage therapy and other gentle forms of treatment immediately following your auto accident and then progress patients to more of an active care plan. An active care plan following an auto accident will include rehabilitative exercises to strengthen the damaged areas of the patients body. We also will work with other medical professionals to guarantee you get all the care that you need to return to your pre-accident state.

How long does it take to recover from a car accident?

From my experience treating hundreds of auto accident patients the time for complete healing can range dramatically. On average most patients can expect to see dramatic results in approximately 3 months. But it is also important to realize that we are all different and any pre-existing conditions and health status prior to your auto accident can determine your final outcome. Obviously the severity of the crash is important to consider when trying to determine the length of treatment for patients as well. But rest assured that we will develop a individual plan for each patient to achieve maximum recovery.
