What to Expect

Setting the Foundation for Your Complete Health

While most people have heard of chiropractic care, many are unsure what to expect when they first visit a chiropractor.

Phase 1 - Relief Care

If you're experiencing pain, come into our Mesa office and see one of our friendly professional chiropractors. Our #1 objective is to reduce your pain to help you feel better as fast as possible. Depending on the severity of the underlying condition that's causing your pain, it's not uncommon for patients to need chiropractic care 2 - 3 times a week for the next 4 - 12 weeks. This is because your spine has experienced subluxation, which is a slight misalignment or a partial dislocation that must be constantly re-adjusted back to normal before it sets in place.

Phase 2 - Corrective and Restorative Care

During phase 2 of our corrective and restorative care, we help your muscles and surrounding tissues heal more thoroughly, which helps prevent injury or pain in the future. The goal in phase 2 of restorative / corrective chiropractic care is to bring your body back to 100% normal function. Generally, most people need adjustments or chiropractic care 4 - 8 times a month for six months to two years, dependent on your general health and how severe your problem is.

Phase 3 - Wellness Care

When your body is completely healed and you no longer experience any back pain or pain symptoms, it's imperative to be seen for recurring chiropractic adjustments to prevent future complications. Typically, this stage of chiropractic care requires only a short trip to the chiropractor for 1 - 4 times a month, determined by your goals and lifestyle.

Your First Visit

1. Patient Forms

Upon entering our office, our receptionist will welcome you as a new member of our family and request that you complete our new patient forms. You can also complete these forms before your visit on our Online Forms page. This paperwork provides us with your health history and information on your condition.

2. Consultation

Next, you will have a consultation with Dr. Scott Taylor to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, and potential treatment options. This initial visit helps the doctor learn more about you, your condition, and your expectations regarding chiropractic care.

3. Examination

After your consultation, Dr. Scott Taylor will perform a complete chiropractic examination testing your reflexes and flexibility. Other standard neurological, orthopedic, postural, and physical tests will be performed as well. However, nothing  will be done in our office  without your consent.

4. X-Ray Studies

Depending on your specific condition, we may take X-rays as well. X-rays help us develop  the most effective treatment plan for you, and alert us of  any serious spinal conditions. Most people are amazed once they see their X-rays up close. In some cases, they can even identify their misalignments and degeneration themselves.

5. Report of Findings

Once the information is collected  and examinations are performed, Dr. Scott Taylor will give you a detailed report of all findings and answer any questions including:

How can you help me?
How often do I need to come in
What  will  my treatment  cost?

After reviewing your health history,  goals, and examining your spine and X-rays, Dr. Scott Taylor will discuss recommendations and notify you if  your condition  requires care with other providers.   Dr. Scott Taylor  will  provide the best  treatment and  wellness program for your needs.

6. Treatment

At the conclusion of this initial  appointment, you can choose to  experience your first treatment. This may include spinal adjustments, physical therapy, and/or soft tissue massage.  Treatment is interactive, so  you can express concerns about the different styles of treatment  anytime.

7. Wellness Program

Prior to leaving, the doctor will suggest a  wellness program  to incorporate outside of treatment.  If you are in pain when you first come into our office this may include: ice or heat application instructions, certain activities or positions to avoid, and at home exercises and/or stretches.  If you desire,  our wellness team will work with you also to create healthy habits and routines for your lifestyle.  Every person is unique, therefore everyone requires a  customized wellness plan.  The purpose  of our wellness program is for   you  to achieve good spinal alignment, have a  healthy diet, exercise, and maintain a positive mental state.
